Directions

Loridans Park in Buckhead, Georgia is a five-acre greenspace that’s worth the visit. The area is notable for its proximity to the upcoming PATH400 trail, which will eventually extend from Wieuca Road to Johnson Ferry Road, offering an exercise option to residents of the north Innerbelt. Getting to the park is simple by way of a gondola-style train that runs on the adjacent Ga. 400, as well as a pedestrian bridge that crosses the road.

One of the more exciting things to come out of the project is the vision plan, which was developed through a seven-month community engagement process. The aforementioned gondola-style train is a must-do for anyone with kids, and it’s also a great way to spend a summer day or two.

Former public school

If you’re a lover of green space, you may want to check out Loridans Park. This five-acre site sits near the future northern terminus of the PATH 400 multiuse trail. It’s also home to Lowery-Stevens cemetery, Atlanta’s oldest family cemetery. The cemetery served the communities that once populated this area, which was formerly rural.

Loridans Park is part of Liveable Buckhead, a program led by the nonprofit Park Pride to plan for the future of the Buckhead community. Park Pride will engage the local community in planning for a new park on the site.

As part of the process, residents weighed in on conceptual drawings of the park. They also voted on guiding principles for the park, including barring on-site parking and maintaining the privacy of neighboring homes.

One of Atlanta’s oldest family cemeteries

The City of Atlanta has many historic cemeteries. Some of these are open to the public, while others are not. Oftentimes, only the family members of the deceased are aware of these cemeteries.

One of the oldest cemeteries in the city is the South-View Cemetery. It was founded by African-Americans in 1886 and is located south of downtown Atlanta. There are more than 80,000 people buried in this cemetery. This cemetery has an interesting history, as it was created during a period when racial tensions were at their highest.

Another cemetery in the city is Westview Cemetery. It is the largest cemetery in the Southeast and contains the graves of many notable Atlanta citizens.

A third cemetery in the city is Washington Memorial Gardens. While there are many African-American burials here, it also contains old slave burials. Learn more!

Average income in Buckhead

The average income in Buckhead is slightly higher than the state average. In fact, it is higher than the national average.

The median household income in Buckhead is $26,607. However, the median earnings per worker are slightly lower. This is because most of the workers commute from another part of Atlanta or the state.

While this is a relatively small gap, it is still an indicator of the high cost of living in Buckhead. When you consider the cost of housing, food, transportation and healthcare, the total monthly expenditure is a bit higher than in the rest of the United States.

If you’re considering moving to Buckhead, you’ll need to make sure you can afford to live here. This is especially true for newcomers who will be paying a significant price to get into the neighborhood. A great place to also visit is
