In the Spring semester of his freshman year of college (2014), Wesley Bloeme received a phone call from one of his good friends, Ryan Francis who was also away at college. As they were discussing their plans for the Summer, the idea of creating something that they could do together came up. Something that would complement their other Summertime jobs and allow them to save up some extra cash while back home in Atlanta.
Bloeme suggested that they start pressure washing together. Neither one of them had a pressure washing machine or the money to purchase one of their own. They were able to borrow a small gas-powered machine from a family member and started calling themselves “College Student Pressure Washing (CSPW).” After the first couple of week working together, they were able to save up enough money to collectively purchase a used semi-commercial grade machine. Doing so would allow them to work significantly more efficiently.
Towards the end of the Summer, Bloeme got an idea, “Maybe I can pay for school this way.” Although he was a member of the school’s football and tennis teams he was not on athletic scholarships. This meant that he was relying on a significant amount of student loans to pay his college tuition. Francis did not feel as strongly about pressure washing and decided to move on from the business.
That following Spring, Bloeme decided to hang up his football cleats after his Sophomore season. He formed an LLC for CSPW as well as applying for a business license and purchasing general liability insurance. Over the rest of his college years, he continued to purchase better equipment and grow the business all the while hiring other college students.
In May of 2017, Bloeme graduated Cum Laude with a Finance/Accounting degree from Maryville College debt free. He was able to use the money he generated pressure washing to pay for his entire college tuition without the need for student loans. He decided at that point to go all in on his business rather than getting a “real job.”
In January of 2018, Bloeme decided to rebrand the business to “WiseGuys Pro-Wash.” He didn’t want the CSPW name to seem misleading due to the fact he was no longer in school. He also wanted a name that would be more memorable and unique.
